Quincy Cursillo relies on the generosity of the Quincy Cursillo Community to help finance needed repairs, pay for updates to the Franciscan Retreat Center and generally enhance the Cursillo experience for the candidates. We partner with Quincy University to help meet the challenge of providing the best possible atmosphere for future candidates and teams.
Tracy Family Foundation Grant
In the summer of 2023, Quincy University received a grant from the Tracy Family Foundation to do some much needed upgrades to the Franciscan Retreat Center. The upgrades will help the facility be more energy efficient. the grant will cover the costs of new air conditioning in the Conference Room, window air conditioners for the rooms that have not yet been updated and it will start the process to install a tankless water heater to replace the very aged water heater.
The initial grant awarded is $30,000. The Tracy Family Foundation will also do a matching grant of an additional $10,000 if the Retreat Programs that use the Center – Cursillo, TEC, Walk to Emmaus – jointly contribute $10,000. This would make a total of $50,000.
If you would like to make a donation towards this matching grant, please mail a check, made out to Quincy Cursillo, to our mailing address listed below. Specify on your check this is for the Tracy Family Foundation grant. If you would like to sponsor something specific, we suggest the window A/C units. The average cost of the window units with installation runs about $400 each. Indicate on your check that you would like to sponsor an A/C unit.
We have until March 2024 to reach the $10,000 goal.
The fees collected from the team and candidates for each weekend goes toward room/board, meals and miscellaneous supplies. Any other expenses that Quincy Cursillo incurs has to be paid for through donations.
There are several sources by which we collect donations – by the offerings collected at the Buddy Mass prior to the weekend and Masses that occur during the weekend itself. In addition, some teams will take up collections during the team meetings to help offset the expense of the weekends.
If you are not able to attend the Cursillo activities and miss the opportunity to contribute, you can also donate by sending payment to:
